I don't want it to be proprietary in the sense of, it only works well if you use Ancestry etc. I'll add in printing, because that's obviously what I need to do. I also want the ability to have areas I can do pages about certain people (like bios), if I find enough info on that person.
I'm looking at what I can do that can enhance what has already been put forth here, as well as elsewhere and compile some of the newer information I have acquired as of late and I'm a bit swamped and stuck for time, so it will be a project in itself. I can make my own, but the novelty has worn off after many years and to date have never created my own family tree web page. I would probably consider it needs the ability to create a web page. So, when considering a genealogy program, I'm thinking 'traditional charts', that can also be broken up into different sections of the family line (because the tree is so huge). I will also be able to add more to Wikitree when I've got more family stuff organized. Wikitree is great, but I also need to have the ability to have a physical hard copy and the ability to organize things better for my physical copy. To say overwhelmed is an understatement when time seems so hard to come by. I've been given a lot of information and I really need to spend time to compile this for myself so I have a hard copy.
